I love monsters and I love old maps, so monsters on old maps is pretty close to perfection for me (though not as close as a young Paul Newman with an iced tea in his hand)

Wales is a leaping tadpole monster!

today's tribute vid brought to you by Little Jimmy Dickens and June Carter. Not really a tribute video in the strictest sense, but sometimes even starfleet's top engineer needs a break from the Federation.

all you tuned-in space-conscious people probably already know about the

perseids meteor shower tonight!

It was actually supposed to peak in the wee small hours this morning, but seeing as I accidentally slept til 11 AGAIN today, I missed it. Tonight I'll be tooling around Lake Cable in a friend's pontoon boat, hoping to catch some non-peak meteors.

meka leka hi meka hi ni ho!

at long last PeeWee Herman has returned!!

"After a hiatus of close to 20 years, Reubens announced Monday that he would be playing Pee-wee in a new stage show at the Music Box @ Fonda in Hollywood, with tickets going on sale today. The production, titled “The Pee-wee Herman Show” and set to run Nov. 19-29, is a reimagined version of the actor’s original theatrical show of the same name that began at the Groundlings Theatre in 1981."

I don't know about you, but Peewee was REALLY the show of my childhood. Nothing compares to Chairy.

This is the best Top 10 Most Important Supernovae list I've ever seen.

(too gimmicky yet??)
"According to the "Hou Hanshu," the official history of the Later Han Dynasty, Chinese astronomers spotted a "guest star" in the southern sky. They described it as displaying five colors and gradually vanishing from the heavens seven months later."

sure does make you feel small

hey clark gable, I see you have my dream 'do.

"if gorgeous was pronounced the way it sounds, like GOR-GEE-OWS, then no one would probably ever say it."

the tousled hair, the loose tailored suede jacket, the open white shirt and ascot...mmm.

Now that I look like one of the hardy boys, maybe I should be looking to amelia earhart for style inspiration instead of...

GEORDI.

been thinkin' about tv lamps

(the rare golden pheasant!)

(this marlin is numba one on my tv lamp wish list.)
(but this angry cat is up there too.)

A LITTLE BACKGROUND ON TV LAMPS:
"TV lamps were quite a phenomenon in the '50s and '60s, sparked by a perceived need to soften the contrast between the television screen and a darkened room. But their success, however brief, was perhaps due more to their decorative aspects."

I'm no Jean Luc Picard, but collecting 21st century antiques has always been a favorite pastime.
